Chickasaw Processing, Inc. Greenwood, SC

Fiber, Wool & Cotton Processing

Our business began processing various textile fibers into nubs for use in nub & novelty yarns for the spinning industry in 1956. These yarns are woven or knitted into fabrics for the apparel, home furnishings, upholstery, carpet & other industries. Chickasaw Processing, in the late 1980’s, began producing various polyester cluster fibers. These are used as fill for bed & decorative pillows, mattress covers, comforters, medical products & other related filled type products.

Multi-Industry Processing

Pillow Fill

In terms of fills, to be considered a “microfiber,” the fiber must be less than one denier, which is extremely fine. This gives the filling its airy weight, downy feel, and soft, silky texture. In comparison, a human hair is 20 denier, whereas Standard Fiber’s microfibers are typically 0.9 denier or less.

Garment Nubs

Nubs give surface texture to an otherwise plain and simple yarn. Variations on this yarn spinning process can create different color nubs along the length of the yarn.

Bedding

Denier is a unit of measurement used to determine the fiber thickness of individual threads or filaments used in the creation of textiles and fabrics. Fabrics with a high denier count tend to be thick, sturdy, and durable. Fabrics with a low denier count tend to be sheer, soft, and silky.
